FAO AQUASTAT Updates Irrigation Database

8 January 2013: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN's (FAO) AQUASTAT programme has undertaken a review of irrigation water requirements and withdrawal, including the development of irrigated crop calendars, for 167 countries.

This reflects a major update of the AQUASAT database. AQUASTAT is the FAO's global information system on water and agriculture. This update will allow users of AQUASAT to access an increased number of variable in the database. The AQUASAT database provides policy and decision makers with reliable datasets that are calculated in a uniform way and are comparable with each other at a country level. [AQUASAT Irrigation Website]
