OECD Workshop Takes Stock of Water Sector Transparency
21 March 2014: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) held a Water Integrity Workshop, as part of OECD Integrity Week, aiming to build on the work of the Working Group on ‘Integrity and Transparency' of the OECD Water Governance Initiative. The workshop took place on 19 March 2014, in Paris, France.
The meeting gave participants a chance to: share experiences on recent developments in water integrity and transparency; showcase contributions of the business community; take stock of existing and needed indicators to track progress on water integrity and transparency; and discuss policy messages and ways forward on water integrity to be reflected in the forthcoming OECD Principles on Water Governance.
The meeting addressed, inter alia: strategies for integrating integrity and transparency into the international, regional and national post-2015 agendas and strategies for the water sector; business-sector initiatives on water integrity and lessons learned on reducing regulatory risk and improving stakeholder engagement and accountability; use of existing indicators to measure transparency and integrity and their application in different water sub-sectors; and preliminary messages to shape the water integrity and transparency section of the OECD instrument on water governance currently under development.
OECD Integrity Week took place from 17-21 March 2014. It included the European Symposium on Business Ethics and Governance, the Forum on Integrity, the Water Integrity Workshop, Seminars on Integrity in Sports and Major Events, Promoting Integrity in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region, and Integrity in Lobbying, and a Compliance Conference.
